Start A Home Works Chapter In Your Town

For a new location to be considered, leaders of the potential city and volunteer groups must have participated in several Blitz or Weeklong sessions at other established Home Works locations, chapters. In 2007, Charleston, Fort Mill and Rock Hill, SC all became new locations served by Home Works. These locations began serving their community in one-day Blitz capacity and with the support of Home Works and their location's community resources can build up to having a week long session. In 2008, both the University of Georgia and Clemson University have been added as locations served.

The primary reasons these locations have become new chapters, include:

    1. groups of youth and adult volunteers had been attending other Home Works sessions at locations far from their community and church for several years

    2. church, civic and government leaders met with Home Works' staff to discuss the program and discuss how they can provide resources to support a Home Works chapter in their town/city

    3. a local adult volunteer is willing and able to lead the chapter as the session coordinator (this person is trained by Home Works and receives support from all Home Works staff, Board and Advisory Board)
